Expedition Overview

Join us on an amazing five day adventure, on this very special expedition. Spend a night in Russian Barentsburg and head west to Van Mijenfjorden. The second night we will spend in a special lodge situated midst of vast arctic wilderness. Enjoy a rare sense of freedom on this tour as you drive across one gigantic, white glacier after another. Marvel at the enormous icebergs on the east coast but keep your eyes open, with a bit of luck you may spot a polar bear out on the ice!

Your day-wise itinerary

Day 1

Oslo to Longyearbyen

Fly from Oslo to Longyearbyen. At Longyearbyen transfer to your hotel for overnight

Day 2

Longyearbyen to Barrentsburg, Svalbard

Meet the expedition leader for briefing and preparation. Begin your snowmobile expedition driving to Russian town of Barrentsburg for overnight

Day 3

Fridtjov Glacier to Brentskaret

Drive past picturesque glaciers, along fjord valleys before arriving to Juva cabin for meals and overnight

Day 4

The East Coast

Enjoy some last stretches of snowmobiling, try spotting the polar bears, before we arrive Longyearbyen by afternoon

Day 5

Longyearbyen to Oslo

Today marks end of adventure as we fly back to Oslo for flight back home.

Snowmobile experience

An expedition for adventurous souls! Be prepared to spend long days on the snowmobile. Driving up to 350 km, tour across glaciers & frozen fjords, between mountains & glaciers, miles away from civilisation.

Tour leaders on this journey are amongst the most experienced on Svalbard. They take responsibility for every practical detail, & ensure that it is conducted safely, so that you can enjoy your trip without worrying about logistics.

See the Russian Town

of Barrentsburg

A very different type of town, combination of recent refurbishments & Soviet-era propaganda make it a must-see! Join on a guided sightseeing tour during your journey, before tucking in for overnight

Tour the East Coast

Known as the realm of Polar bear, due to the huge ice-covered expanse of Storfjord being a favoured hunting ground for this carnivore. Marvel at some of the enormous icebergs found in this remote region

Barrentsburg Hotel

The only accommodation in the region, it overlooks the Isfjord, and offers basic modern living facilities needed for any expedition, including a sauna

Juva Cabin

Surrounded with mountains on all sides, the outlook from the window takes every visitor's breath away. Situated far away amidst untouched wilderness, its a perfect place to catch glimpse of northern lights. Features a sauna too.

Pre and post stay in Longyearbyen

Our expedition includes a stay in Coal Miner's Cabin - an actual miners' accommodation enhanced with modern facilities. This place is cosy & suits budget-conscious travellers of all ages. Upgrades to other levels can be requested

Special Notes

  • This tour is not suitable for those with back, neck, arm or wrist issues
  • Drivers license is a must to ride your own snowmobile
  • More than Average physical fitness is required for this expedition. You must be prepared to spend long days on the snowmobile
  • Previous snowmobiling experience is recommended
  • Knowledge of English or one of Scandinavian languages is must for participation, so as the guide can give you directions for safety and understanding
  • Prices indicated above are on twin sharing basis
  • Adventure available for age 16 and above
  • You can also upgrade your accommodation to other options available in the town – Radisson Blu Polar, Funken Lodge
  • Exact packing equipment list will be provided by our expedition consultants
