Expedition Overview

Embrace your senses as we take you around some of the most beautiful fjords, bays, glaciers, icebergs and mountain ranges throughout Alaska on an Inside Passage Cruise. Learn about the history and traditions of Alaska within the small communities, and stay active with landings while scouting for magnificent wildlife of the region, aboard world's first passenger hybrid ship.

Day 1

Vancouver

Arrive to the city and embark your ship

Day 2

At sea

Look out for dolphins, orcas, porpoises, fjords, mountains with luscious forests as we cruise through channels

Day 3

Misty Fjords National Monument

We hope to launch our small boats and kayaks to see unspoiled wilderness of the area

Day 4

Wrangell

Explore the "Soul of Alaska" as we learn from the community what it means to be an Alaskan

Day 5

Sitka (Half Day)

Surrounded with spectacular scenery, roam around the town to see a dormant volcano, totem poles or visit to raptor centre

Day 6

Icy Bay

Watch the prominent tidal glaciers as we aim to explore Guyot glacier depending on conditions

Day 7

At sea

Spend the day unwinding on board, engaging with expedition team, fellow travelers or spotting for wildlife from deck

Day 8

Kodiak (Full Day)

Explore the history and wildlife of town, or take a walk up to Miller Point for some incredible views

Day 9

Kinak Bay

Witness Katmai National Park's Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes and hopefully brown bears too

Day 10

Chignik

See the famous village's scenic streams full of salmons, mingle with locals or visit a fish factory

Day 11

Unga Village (Full Day)

Experience tranquility of this ghost town with its many scenic hills and calming coastline

Day 12

Dutch harbor (Half Day)

See steaming volcano of mount makushin as we sail towards this town for half day of exploration

Day 13

At sea

Unwind onboard as we cross the bering sea and enjoy company of fellow travelers or expedition team

Day 14

St. Paul (Full day)

Home to rare Red-legged Kittiwake, this place boasts abundant birdlife and healthy population of seals

Day 15

St. Matthew Island

Get ashore on black sand beaches, enjoy sighting birdlife, native vole, perhaps arctic fox on isle with no human population

Day 16

Bering Sea

Share and relive your great memories so far, as we sail back towards Vancouver

Day 17

Nome

We disembark and transfer to the airport for flight back to Vancouver with an overnight stay in the city

Katmai National Park

Spend a day cruising & looking for bears from deck or from small explorer boats in the park, for its communities of brown bear. We will also try making a landing to explore by foot, as & when considered safe

Fishing Communities

Admire the Alaskan-typical fishing village of Chignik Bay. Visit the most important and famous fishing ports in the US - the Dutch Harbor, famous from the show "The Deadliest Catch"

Visit Abandoned Settlements

of the Aleutian Islands

The wooden buildings of Alaskan Ghost town of Unga show you traces of Aleuts that lived here once. While we land at the deserted St. Matthew Island, we will likely be the only humans at this most isolated place in Alaska

Discover Unspoiled Wilderness

Explore deep fjords, majestic snow-capped peaks, waterfalls of Misty Fjords National Monument, discover tough and rugged area of Icy Bay, admire splendid scenery of snow-capped mountains & verdant forest at Katmai National Park

Absorb Various Cultures

Spot petroglyphs at the beach, visit a Tribal House of Chief of local Tlingit people, marvel at moss-covered totem poles in Wrangell. Hike at Sitka National Historic Park, learn about the native Alutiiqs in Kodiak

Bears

Enjoy bear watching in Katmai National Park for a whole day, look out for Brown & Black bear at Misty Fjords, and for some of the 3,500 Kodiak brown bears in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, during this journey

Seals

About 500,000 northern fur seals call their home at St.Paul island. Watch these active creatures waddling along the shore & splashing in water. We may also spot many harbor seals at Icy Bay, relaxing on floating ice

Various Land Mammals

With foxes, squirrels, lemmings, and even a herd of wild horses at Summer Bay, singing voles, wolves, caribou, elks, the variety and chances are impressively endless

Albatrosses

Sailing through Gulf of Alaska, there are chances to see North Pacific albatrosses, mainly 3 types; laysan & black-footed albatrosses are common in Gulf of Alaska, while short-tailed albatross are a rare sight.

And More Birds

Look out for nesting seabirds like Murres, Puffins, Cormorants, rare McKay's Bunting exclusively at St. Matthew Island, endemic Red - Legged Kittiwakes, Auklets, Murrelets, more than 20+ species of waterfowls

Salmons

5 species of Pacific salmon live in Alaskan waters: pink, silver, king, sockeye & chum. Every summer, they run upstream to spawn, an annual event eagerly awaited by locals, including grizzly bears & bald eagles.

Go out on deck to look out for dolphins, porpoises, orcas and humpback whales. The sites we visit also offer sights of river otters, sea otters, Stellar sea lions, harbor seals, Dall porpoises, sperm whales, gray whales, salmons and more

Landings

As we visit towns, fishing villages, fjords, bays, harbours, when and wherever possible we will try to get offshore and explore the places by foot, on small boat cruises or kayak. Expect wildlife spotting, forest hikes etc

Town Visits

Visit gold rush towns like Nome and Wrangell, Russia’s Alaska capital Sitka, 'Emerald Isle' aka Kodiak, all boasting rich history. Go on walks with local guides to explore the town, meet the people, and observe its history

Hiking

Join the Expedition team onboard on guided hikes to viewpoints and various points of interests at places we visit. These will be offered on the spot during the expedition

Kayaking

Get close to the majestic nature of Alaska. Paddle ocean passages, iceberg lagoons or the calm waters of Alaska’s coastal areas with an experienced guide, offered when and where possible during the sailing

Photo Programme

Join the included programme for photographers of any ability, giving you tips that will help you better capture the spectacular photo opportunities in Alaska. You may also have a chance to join a more intensive one to two-hour Photo Adventures session.

Rocky Mountaineer train

Pre - Programme

The scenery on this journey is nothing short of spectacular. Enjoy riding on the famous Rocky Mountaineer train through the beautiful Canadian Rockies scenery from Banff to Vancouver, for a period of 2 days

MS Roald Amundsen

This world's 1st hybrid powered passenger ship was launched in 2019, named after first man to reach the South Pole, and shows the world that hybrid propulsion on large ships is possible

Science Center

Join Expedition Team here for lectures, photography workshops, & Citizen Science Projects. The area also features scientific & educational equipment, such as microscopes & interactive maps, to dive into details of regions

Observation Lounge and Deck

On 2 levels, both indoor/outdoor, it's an ideal place to scan the scenery & watch wildlife with your binoculars. The indoor serves as a lounge, to gather for activities, chit chats or simple relaxation in warmth while watching outside

Cabins

Each cabin is outside facing with large windows. 50% have private balconies, and aft suites features private outdoor hot tubs with spectacular views

Rewind and Relax

At the spa, sauna, infinity pool, jacuzzi, or warm up at the jogging track out on the deck and the indoor gym
