Expedition Overview

Join us on a fantastic paddling experience in the Isfjord, Svalbard's second longest fjord. Make your way through one of the world’s starkest landscapes, as you kayak through powerful landscape of Svalbard and its mighty glacier faces, while gaining an introduction to the mining and hunting heritage of the region.

Your day-wise itinerary

Day 1

Oslo to Longyearbyen

Fly from Oslo to Longyearbyen. At Longyearbyen transfer to your hotel for overnight

Day 2

Longyearbyen to Postbreen

Meet the expedition leader for briefing and preparation, before heading to Kapp Wærn for paddling and overnight camp

Day 3 - 6

Towards Sveabreen

Continue paddling from Kapp Wærn, towards Coraøya and others, until Sveabreen's towering glacier face. Over the days you will stop for breaks and camp overnight at various sites

Day 7

Wahlenberg Glacier to Longyearbyen

Enjoy your final day of paddling, before hoping on polarcirkel boats heading back to Longyearbyen for overnight

Day 8

Longyearbyen to Oslo

After a scrumptious breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Oslo

Where and how The Stay

The kayaking expereince

Paddle 107 km into the island, to explore the little magical universe of Isfjorden, Svalbard's second largest. With soaring mountains, massive glaciers & icebergs floating around us, sounds of mother nature will keep you company

Discover history and wildlife

Find teeming birdlife, intriguing flora & fascinating remnants from the past. You will land in a number of places to get a closer look at cultural sites from Svalbard´s intriguing mining & hunting past

Practical Information

Both single & steady double kayaks will be used on this expedition. You will kayak in a group of maximum 6 with professional experienced paddlers. If weather gets difficult, we will go trekking in surrounding areas

Have an arctic camping experience

Enjoy the adventure of camp life. At the end of everyday, we will setup campsites where comfortable and safe. The days weather proves to be difficult, we will setup camp to rest our equipments, and go trekking in beautiful surrounding areas

Assist with Polar Bear watch

As a participant on this expedition, be prepared to be a polar bear guard during a couple of nights. Enjoy wandering alone around the camp under the midnight sun while rest are asleep! An exotic experience. Many often ask for extra shifts just to experience this more

Pre and post stay in Longyearbyen

Our expedition includes a stay in Coal Miner's Cabin - an actual miners' accommodation enhanced with modern facilities. This place is cosy & suits budget-conscious travellers of all ages. Upgrades to other levels can be requested

Special Notes

This tour is not suitable for those with back, neck, arm or wrist issues
Some previous paddling experience will be required
Knowledge of English or one of Scandinavian languages is must for participation, so as the guide can give you directions for safety and understanding
Prices indicated above are on twin sharing basis
Adventure available for age 18 and above
You can also upgrade your accommodation to other options available in the town – Radisson Blu Polar, Funken Lodge
