Ski Expedition under Midnight Sun

Our expedition begins with your arrival to Norway's capital Oslo. Here we fly you to Longyearbyen, Svalbard's capital. In the midst of this mighty wilderness is the Norwegian settlement of Longyearbyen, only lit by the town lights or camp fire burning in some gatherings, as we arrive at the airport in the dark days. Longyearbyen is often called an antidote to modern-day life and today serves as a prime destination for adventure travelers. We will transfer you to your respective hotels for an overnight, which will be your basecamp for the next few days for your unique experience. For those that arrive here early, we highly encourage to take a walk across town, just to get the feel of how the people survive here their normal day

After breakfast, at 10:00am, meet your expedition guide for briefing, preparation and packing for your exciting tour ahead. We will go through the gear and instructions for use of cooking gear, pulka, ski equipment, tent, food and drinks. After the briefing you will have this whole day to yourself for packing and preparation. In case there is anything you forgot to pack, there is an expedition centre in the town at walkable distance, where you can shop, tax or duty free! Why not take a stroll and enjoy the area. Your accommodation at Coal Miner's cabin continues for tonight.

We hope you have filled yourself enough, because today the expedition finally begins! Our guide will pick you up at Coal Miners’ Cabins at 10:00 am. We will then transport to north side of the Isfjord to Borebukta with Polarcirkel boats over approximately 1-2 hours. From here on all we need are skis and pulkas. Once we arrive there, all that is left to do is to fasten our skis and head into Trollheimen - an incredible area between the Isfjord and the Kongsfjord, far away from civilisation and everyday life. This region is well off the beaten track, and there is little chance of meeting snowmobiles here! Meaning you can enjoy the unique silence that is only found in the high Arctic. The tempo will be adjusted to the weather conditions and the participants. Now that we have begin skiing amidst the wilderness, we will set camp where deemed safe, and rest for the day before we begin next day again.

During the following days we ski in the beautiful Trollheimen area, in Oscar II’s Land. We head northwest through this amazing glacier filled landscape, and admire the incredible landscape of the area. We will have a new campsite each day, as we make our way over glaciers and past stunning peaks.

On this day we aim to arrive in Kongsfjorden, and be picked up by MS Nordstjernen, or small expedition cruise ship and basecamp for the day. Once on board, we will enjoy a hot shower followed by a tasty meal in the restaurant. After dinner there will be a visit to Ny-Ålesund. Enjoy a guided tour in the little town before we head back on board and continue our journey back to Longyearbyen over night. You have the night to enjoy the facilities on board, mingle with fellow travellers, or simply take in the amazing Svabard view we pass by

MS Nordstjernen arrives in Longyearbyen at 10am. After disembarkatiion, we transfer to the airport for flight back home. Your Spitsbergen adventure is now over. We will transfer you to the airport, for your flight back home, or extend your stay to live amidst Arctic wilderness for a little longer
